Students participating in the Talmadge Moore LeGrand photojournalism workshop at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications photographed the 88th running of the Carolina Cup, a steeplechase racing event in Camden, South Carolina.

The workshop was funded through a generous grant established by Janet Tarbox and supported through a loan of professional photography equipment by Canon.

The workshop is the capstone experience of an elective course created by associate professor Denise McGill and taught this year by adjunct faculty Renée Ittner-McManus.

A partnership with the Carolina Cup Racing Association gave the students press access and logistical support throughout the event coverage.

A team of professional photographers coached the students as they photographed all aspects of the event from dawn to dusk on race day. View some of these photos below.
