Public History/Master in Library & Information Science

Combine your interests in history, curation and information in this degree that prepares students for careers in education, communities, industries, businesses and more.

This program combines respected curriculum, alumni networks and faculty expertise from two colleges at the University of South Carolina. Both the Public History program and the School of Information Science rank nationally, with this combined program a perfect fit for students seeking specialized skills and career advancement in library and history fields.

Review the required curriculum in the Academic Bulletin. Students are required to complete a thesis and oral exam in public history and complete a portfolio for the MLIS.

MA in English/Master in Library & Information Science

This joint degree program in English and Library and Information Science requires 55 hours of course work and culminates in two compatible and highly marketable degrees.

Prospective students must apply directly to the joint program. Neither the MA in English nor the MLIS will be awarded separately. Students who wish to change from the joint program to a single program must reapply to the program they wish to enter.

Review the required curriculum in the Academic Bulletin. Students are required to complete a thesis for the MA in English and a portfolio for the MLIS.
