Background

Ali Zain is a third-year doctoral student at School of Journalism and Mass Communication, at the University of South Carolina. His research interests are general areas of mass communication with an extensive focus on online misinformation, information processing, digital discourse in politics and public relations, and health communication. He uses traditional qualitative and quantitative methods as well as more sophisticated computational and psycho-physiological methods. Moreover, he is interested in conducting inter-disciplinary research in collaboration with domain experts from computer science, public health, and marketing.

Zain has published and presented his research work at well-reputed journals and national/international conferences. He has received top student paper awards from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the Southeast Colloquium (SEC). He has also received travel grants from the International Communication Association (ICA). Additionally, he is also a CHQ Junior Scholar at the South Carolina SmartState Center for Healthcare Quality to receive mentoring and research grant. 

Prior to his affiliation with the USC, he completed his bachelor's degree from Pakistan and studied in Turkey for his master's degree, which enabled me to gain diverse experience of this field. In addition to his passion for research, he loves to travel, take pictures, and tell stories of places through those pictures.
