The Experience

Here is a look at what 2021 Media Innovation Academy students did. Your 2022 lineup will be even better!

Students visited creators in their spaces to learn about applying what you learn at the Academy. Highlights were Dust of the Ground video productions and New and Creative Media at UofSC Athletics.

2021 participants said the Media Innovation Academy was a positive experience.

Here is what 2021 participant said about Dust of the Ground . . .

It was really cool to see an actual production studio and the guys in charge were also really interesting and had valuable things to say.”

And Athletics . . .

I really enjoyed this trip. I liked how interactive it was. I found it really interesting what they do and how as a student you can go and get a job/internship possibly right away if you wanted and went after it.”

Overall, students credit the Academy with teaching them skills and tools they need, along with giving them a new group of friends to work with.

Very glad I did it. I learned skills and tips through my class and got to hear from some great people across various industries. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if they want to get ahead with a journalism requirement.

It was a great experience that I feel will benefit me so much in the future. I also gained so many new friends and made connections with professionals!”

I had a lot of fun over the past few weeks! It was very well-paced, the classes were stimulating, and I made some new friends. I'm glad to have been part of this program!”
