Developing Entrepreneurs

Talent is a key driver of performance in the modern economy. The Department of Management's mission is to identify how organizations can more effectively attract, develop and retain talent to drive business performance, innovation, inclusion and entrepreneurial activity.

We accomplish this mission by:

  • Conducting impactful scholarly research and training the next generation of management Ph.D. scholars
  • Transforming undergraduate and graduate students into effective business leaders
  • Collaborating with the business community to enhance management, innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities

The Department of Management is home to research and educational centers. These centers contribute to educational excellence in traditional management areas that include entrepreneurship, strategic management, human resources, business communication, business ethics and organizational behavior.

The management department offers a major in entrepreneurship as well as a broad range of courses in areas ranging from strategic management to business communications. Students are exposed to a unique blend of classroom and applied experiential learning opportunities to prepare them for work in the modern economy. We also offer a wide range of both required and elective courses in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, consulting and organizational development, human resources, talent analytics and strategic management.

We offer consulting services to solve all types of operational and strategic talent challenges. To support our educational mission and research mission, the management department relies heavily on the Faber Entrepreneurship Center and the Center for Executive Succession. These centers work to support research activities, promote links between the University of South Carolina and the business community, and build competencies and skills among both undergraduate and graduate students.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
