Darla Moore School of Business

Language Track Immersion

In the Language Track, you’ll select a language of study, which will be incorporated into your core course work. In your second year, you’ll experience an intensive, in-country immersion to increase your fluency and refine your conversational abilities in business and social conversation.

Your in-country learning experience

Immersion typically lasts from early January until early March of your second year. You will spend approximately three to four hours per day in the classroom advancing your chosen language during your immersion. Choose from the following locations:

Language Track Immersion Experiences

  • Paris, France (French)
  • Mannheim, Germany  (German)
  • Guadalajara, Mexico (Spanish)

Housing

Students have a range of housing choices. Your options will vary depending on your taste and preferences, and the availability of housing options in a particular region. Most students opt to rent an apartment or flat near their classes. Before your immersion, you will be provided with tips compiled by previous classes to use as a guide during your housing search.

Required Coursework

All International MBA students enroll in the Globalization and the International Context of Business course during the international immersion. The course requirements include a field study project, which will begin during your immersion. The project will focus on a specific business, company or organization located in your host country. In your last term, after completing your immersion, you will complete the final portion of the course, which connects your immersion experiences and the marketplace elements using the business anthropology model.

The Moore School provides a truly different international experience. The Language Track was an exceptional element in my decision-making process.
