Here is what you need in order to apply for our master's program.
If you’re looking for a career in a library or information center, consider our Master of Library and Information Science degree. It prepares students for jobs in colleges, schools, communities, industries, businesses and other institutions.
Our master’s program is fully accredited by the American Library Association.
It is fully online, with the exception of school library in-person practicums and other internships.
MLIS students on the General/LIS track take 36 hours of coursework, including 18 hours of required core classes. They tailor the remainder of their classes (18 hours) toward their career interests with the help of professional advisors in our Student Services Office.
If you are interested in becoming a school librarian, our certification program is the right choice for you. Our program prepares students to work and teach in school libraries across the country.

Our program prepares students to work and teach in school libraries across the country. Students who complete our program are eligible to be certified and approved by the S.C. Department of Education.
Our students take at least eight of their classes (24 hours) in our school. That leaves the option of taking four classes (12 hours) in other USC departments.
