An earned undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required to be considered for admission to the MIB program. Graduate course work, whether degree has been fully completed or not, will also be taken into consideration. Transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted to the Darla Moore School of Business.

You can attach unofficial transcripts to your online application for the review process.  Transcripts are required from every institution attended for course credit, even if a degree was not awarded.  Official transcripts are required for enrollment and must be sent before the end of your first term to continue in the program.  Documentation includes grade sheets, a statement of degree(s) awarded and the date each degree was conferred.  International universities often have separate grade sheets and certificates showing proof of degree.

Applicants must provide a valid GMAT or GRE score to be considered for admission to the MIB program. To be valid, test scores must be no older than five years. The Institutional/program GMAT code for the school is JV2-TP-38 and the GRE Institutional Code is 5818. 

The GMAT/GRE requirement may be waived for applicants on a case-by-case basis after review by the MIB admissions committee. A waiver of the GMAT/GRE is based on meeting any of the following conditions:

1. Superior academic performance in undergraduate studies
2. An alternative standardized test score
3. Graduation with, or currently in the process of earning, a master’s degree
   • The degree must be in the field of business or economics, awarded from an accredited university and the applicant must be ranked in the top 25% of their class
4. Graduation with a master’s degree in a non-business field and at least three years of professional, post-baccalaureate business experience
5. At least five years of professional, post-baccalaureate work experience

Admission review requires two letters of recommendation. Either professional or academic letters of recommendation are accepted.

The application for admission requires a statement of purpose (500-word essay) that should outline why you want to earn the MIB degree. There are additional short essay questions to answer (your choice of three out of five questions). Space is also provided to add a personal essay. This essay should be used to explain unique or specific circumstances concerning any part of your application where you feel the admissions committee might have concerns.

Candidates are encouraged to submit thorough and pertinent information on leadership activities, volunteerism, international travel experiences and other items that the admissions committee can use to evaluate the application package.

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a satisfactory score on the TOEFL. Applicants are required to achieve a TOEFL score of at least iBT 100 or 600 paper-based. The MIB admissions committee will also consider alternative language proficiency testing including the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), PTE Academic Test.  An applicant must score at least a 7.0 on the IELTS, 800 on the TOEIC, at least a 64 on the PTE. 

An applicant whose native language is not English, but has graduated from or is attending a degree program from a U.S. institution or a program where the instructional language is English, and is certified by a written confirmation from the applicant’s home university International Office, may be waived from the language requirement. Students meeting the English Language qualification as noted above may also be waived from the ENFS testing at South Carolina.

The Moore School admits new students into the MIB program once a year in late August (fall term).

• Admission application: You must submit an application and all supporting documents before your application will be reviewed and an admissions decision is made. 
• Admission interview: An admission interview may be requested by the admissions committee.

Admission decisions are made when the application is complete — all documents and GMAT score reports are received. Primary criteria considered for admission include undergraduate performance, GMAT score and international coursework and experience.

• When completing the application, please note your interest in the double-degree option.
• In the "optional essay" section, explain which double-degree you would prefer and why.

The admissions committee will work with each candidate to determine who will be accepted into each of the separate double-degree options.
