About the AMA Consortium

We are excited to announce that the Department of Marketing at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, is hosting the 2025 AMA Marketing Strategy Consortium. This event will be held in Columbia, SC, USA, May 19-20, 2025. We are proud to host the event after the consortia at Missouri, Indiana, UT Austin, Texas A&M, UGA, and Cologne. The event co-organizers are Satish Jayachandran, Manpreet Gill, Chen Zhou, and Kealy Carter.

The key idea of the consortium is (a) to function as a developmental platform for the training and thinking of aspiring colleagues and (b) to enhance the stature of the field of marketing strategy in academic research and promote its impact on society. As such, we want to foster visibility and top publications in our journals. Thus, the principal goals of the consortium are:

  • Knowledge Exchange: Engage in meaningful discussions to deepen our understanding of emerging substantive marketing trends and strategies.
  •  Skill Enhancement: Learn new approaches to conduct more impactful and innovative marketing strategy research.
  • Supporting Future Talent: Provide constructive feedback to student and young faculty presenters.
  • Community Reinforcement and Identity Build-up: Generate a strong spirit of marketing strategy community within the larger marketing field.

The agenda is likely to be built around four content blocks:

  1. Emerging Marketing Strategy Topics (focusing on the next ‘what’ of marketing strategy research)
  2. Student and Young Faculty Presentations (focusing on individual feedback and development)
  3. Research Process Topics (focusing on advice on the publication process)
  4. Methodological Approaches (focusing on skills)

The consortium will start in the morning of Monday, May 19, and will conclude with a dinner on Tuesday, May 20. These dates were chosen to allow faculty and students to attend AMS, EMAC, and Global SIG conferences.
