How do communities support mobility impaired individuals, new mothers and those suffering from chronic illnesses? These were a few of the topics discussed at the Health Disparity Research Symposium held Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.
“This event was a collaborative effort with USC Corporate & Foundation Relations and several sister colleges and schools,” said Associate Dean of Research Linwan Wu. “It provided an invaluable opportunity for us to hear directly from foundation program officers about research collaboration opportunities aimed at combating health disparities in South Carolina. The CIC faculty are eager to contribute!”
The goal of the event was to better equip faculty members to utilize, interpret and apply their research. Jennifer McCormack, Assistant Vice President, Corporate and Foundation Relations Giving at USC, moderated the discussion.
The foundation panel included: Justin Dunham, program officer, Health Care, The Duke Endowment; Steven Martin, president & CEO, Constellation Quality Health - CCME Foundation; and Donna Waites, president, Sisters of Charity Foundation.
The Arnold School of Public Health, the College of Education and the College of Social Work were represented in addition to the College of Information and Communications.
