Making an Impact

Whether through the gift of time, resources, or both, donor support is an integral factor in the success of the Joseph F. Rice School of Law. Below are some highlights of law school donor impact from the last year.

  • $1.5 million in scholarships awarded to the current 1L class
  • 178 students benefited from scholarships
  • 269 donor gifts to scholarships

Scholarships Change Lives

More than 80 percent of our students rely on scholarships to attend law school and pursue their dream of becoming a lawyer. Mia’s mom, Sergeant First Class Alexandria Jenkins ’25, is one of these students.

Every Gift Makes a Difference

Our alumni are generous with their time as much as other resources. Hear from three alumnae on what they received from the law school, and how they give back.

Community Impact

The Rice School of Law is also supported by grants and legislative funding, proving time and again that an investment in the law school is an investment in South Carolina. Learn more about the statewide impact of the law school’s latest programs and projects.

Cement Your Legacy

The Office of Development initiated the Brick Program this year, collecting more than $59,700, which will go straight to student scholarships.

Investing in Public Good

Exemplifying his commitment to community service, Michael Jeffcoat '97 created the Jeffcoat Public Interest Law Fund, which offers support to students working in public interest law.

Giving to the law school aligns with my firm’s mission to try to make things better by helping everyday people solve really significant problems. And I'm hoping that, maybe starting with Joe's gift, more and more alumni will find ways to give back to society through the law school. There are opportunities to do that, all we have to do is begin a conversation with the folks at the law school and find ways to give back.
