Physical Education

This program is designed for undergraduate students at the University of South Carolina who are interested in a career as a physical education teacher. Students who successfully complete the degree and certification requirements and have a positive recommendation by the faculty will be recommended for SC teacher certification in physical education at all levels (PK-12).

Early Childhood Education

This program is designed for undergraduate students at the University of South Carolina who are interested in a career as an early childhood teacher, serving children birth through age 8. Students who successfully complete the degree and certification requirements and have a positive recommendation by the faculty will be recommended for SC teacher certification for pre-kindergarten through grade 3.  This program offers two optional tracks for students – Special Education (ages 3-6) and the Urban Cohort.

Elementary Education

This program is designed for undergraduate students at the University of South Carolina who are interested in a career as an elementary school teacher in grades 2 through 6. Students who successfully complete all degree and certification requirements and have a positive recommendation from the faculty will be recommended for SC teacher certification in Elementary Education.

Middle Level Education

This program is designed for undergraduate students at the University of South Carolina who are interested in a career as a teacher in grades 5 through 8. Beyond the major, students must choose two different content areas of specialization, each including 18-21 hours of studies. Specialized content areas are English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Students specializing in English and Social Studies will pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. Students specializing in Mathematics and Science will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. Students specializing in English/Math, English/Science, Social Studies/Math or Social Studies/science may elect to pursue either a BA or a BS. Students who successfully complete all degree and certification requirements and have a positive recommendation from the faculty will be recommended for SC teacher certification in Middle Level Education.
