Undergraduate Advising Appointments

The Student Services office advises Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Level, and Physical Education majors. If you are working towards Secondary Education certification as part of the 5th-Year Master of Teaching degree, the advisors in your home college will continue to advise you as you complete your undergraduate work. You need to meet with your advisor at least twice per year for official course advising, and before you can register for classes each semester.

When you drop by the office, you’ll be greeted by our friendly, helpful staff every time. Meetings with your advisor should be informative and provide useful information for you. You can bring your questions to your advisement sessions, and we will work diligently to provide you with all the information you need to complete your undergraduate program in a successful and timely manner.

Staff advisors are assigned by major, and they work closely with program faculty to ensure that students receive sound advising information. Students are assigned a staff advisor in the College of Education based on their major after their first year at USC. Freshmen and first year transfer students are assigned to our First Year Advisor as they adjust to life at USC. Trained in first year student issues, this advisor, along with the major staff advisors, provides a strong resource base for our students.

Understanding your program requirements is the first key to success as a student. Read your Student Handbook for your major, as well as the USC Undergraduate Studies Bulletin. While it may not read like your favorite novel, the Handbooks and Bulletin contain important information. We welcome your questions and want to work together with you to make your educational experience a positive one.

Your advisor can assist you with planning for a Study Abroad experience, National Student Exchange program, or taking summer course work close to your home. We look forward to seeing you in Gamecock EdQuarters!
