Scholarships, Assistantships, & Financial Aid

There are a wide variety of scholarship options available:

College of Education Scholarships, Fellowships and Grants

The University of South Carolina's College of Education offers a variety of awards, scholarships, and fellowships. Awards will be split equally between the fall and spring semesters, unless you are graduating in December. Monies are distributed towards tuition.

AACTE Holmes Scholars

The AACTE Holmes Scholars Program supports students from historically underrepresented communities who are enrolled in doctoral programs in the College of Education.

Apple Core Initiative

With generous support from Colonial Life, the Apple Core Initiative is designed to recruit, enroll and retain South Carolina high school students from historically underrepresented populations into the teacher education programs, filling voids in South Carolina schools.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships are available in several departments in the College of Education. Students apply once each academic year for a new assistantship or to renew an existing assistantship.

Teaching Fellows Program

Designed as a scholarship opportunity for highly qualified high school students who wish to pursue a career in education, The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program offers tuition assistance for those who wish to serve in South Carolina’s public schools following graduation.

Federal TEACH Grant

A Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is different from other federal student grants because it requires you to take certain kinds of classes in order to get the grant, and then do a certain kind of job to keep the grant from turning into a loan.

South Carolina Teachers / Career Changers Loan

The South Carolina Teachers / Career Changers Loan programs were established by the State of South Carolina to help talented and qualified students become teachers.
