  • Simon Hudson, Robin DiPietro and Tena Crews were awarded a $144,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to create and deliver three state-of-the-art online training courses to serve the needs of businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector post-pandemic.
  • Karen Edwards and Lydia Frass (College of Arts and Sciences) published the article “Using backward design to move online courses forward: laying the pedagogical foundation for high quality courses” in the Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository.
  • Karen Edwards won the 2022  Loss Prevention Magazine Magpie Award for Excellence in Partnerships.
  • Sarah Perry Young (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising, ‘14) started a new position as banquet and events manager at the Westwood Club in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Lexi Griffith Kinard (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising, ‘16) was promoted to senior merchandise planner with Under Armour.
  • Anna Hanley  (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising, ‘18) started a new position as senior finance analyst for Unilever.
  • Aaron Henderson (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘13) was a featured speaker at the inaugural Black Sports Business Symposium in Atlanta.
  • Michael Rossi (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘19) was named Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment Sales MVP for the month of April. 
  • Brandon Ruth (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘11) participated in the Stanford-NFL “League of Leaders” Executive Program.
  • Wes Rowe (Master of Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘14), general manager of Graduate Hotels in Chapel Hill, received the Young Professional of the Year award at the Business Excellence Awards presented by The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill - Carrboro.  
  • Pete McMahon (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘18) was promoted to senior eCommerce store manager with Universal Music Group.
  • Bobby Bellinger (Hospitality Management, ‘02) started a new position as senior director, franchise learning with Marriott International.
  • Stacey Woods (Integrated Information Technology, ‘98) accepted an invitation to join the Forbes Human Resources Council. 
  • John Thomas (Retailing, '05) received the Kudzu Award for his work as a solo practitioner financial advisor with Morgan Stanley.
  • LeRoy DesChamps (associate's in Retail Management, '79, B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies, ‘81), COO and Director of Administration for the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET), received the 2022 Transportation Association of South Carolina President’s Award for Dedication to Community.
  • Ernest Middleton (Retailing, ‘03) started a new position as department manager, women’s shoes with Nordstrom at the company’s flagship store in New York City.
  • Jess Wilkerson (Hospitality Management, ‘10) was promoted to product director for Hotel Websites at Marriott International.
    HRSM alumni Aisha Haynes (Integrated Information Technology, ‘04) and Jonathan Sorrenti  (Integrated Information Technology, ‘08) were included in The State newspaper’s 20 Under 40 list
  • Alison Schwartz (Hospitality Management, ‘21) accepted a manager in training position at the Four Seasons Resort and Residence Jackson Hole.
  • Cara Baldwin (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘20), was promoted to account executive with GMR Marketing in Boston.
  • Olivia Hyatt (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘11, current chair of the HRSM Alumni Society Board) joined the La-Z-Boy Southeast Corporate Team as their new content marketing manager.
  • Madison Susi (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘21) accepted a new position as  e-commerce marketing coordinator with Feld Entertainment.
  • Leah Fuda (Hospitality Management, ‘20) started a new position as an outside sales representative at Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. General Tool division in Cayce, South Carolina.
  • Brian Martin (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘08) was named general manager of the American Bank Center arena and convention center complex in Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • Kit Gyemant (Retailing - Fashion Merchandising and Digital Innovations, ‘20) started a new position as sales professional with Alexander McQueen in San Francisco.
  • Matt Tassello (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘13) started a new position as a member of the partnerships team at SponsorUnited. 
  • Julia Vogel (Sport and Entertainment Management, ‘21)  a new position as associate recruiter with Signature Consultants in Charlotte.
