Tourism and Event Leaders Share Insights at UofSC

On March 26, 2019, the University of South Carolina's Department of Sport and Entertainment Management hosted the Thomas H. Regan Executive Lecture Series - Major Events in South Carolina.

The free event was held at the Russell House Theater and featured an impressive lineup of some of South Carolina's foremost experts on managing large-scale sporting and entertainment events.

Speakers included:

  • Bob Moran, Tournament Director, Volvo Car Open
  • Duane Parrish, Director, South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism
  • Kerry Tharp, President, Darlington Raceway
  • Steve Wilmot, Tournament Director, RBC Heritage and Vice Chairman, Tournament Advisory Council, PGA

The panel discussed topics ranging from event management, tourism, venue security, ticket sales, fan engagement, and corporate sponsorships. The lecture provided a valuable opportunity for sport and entertainment management students, researchers and industry leaders to share ideas and learn from some of the most experienced executives in the state.
