Faculty / Staff Notes

  • Pam Osman and Georgia Petritsis were awarded an Erasmus+ grant to collaborate with counterparts at the University of Aruba. They exchanged ideas on best practices for standard operating procedures, grant governance and other funding opportunities for research, course scheduling, advising, effective communication between the University, departments, faculty, staff, and students, and more.
  • Armen Shaomian and Janet Hopkins of the UofSC School of Music have been invited to perform a lecture-recital at the 2019 Social Theory, Politics, and the Arts (STP&A) Summit. This is the first time the STP&A have invited a live performance to the annual event.
  • Sang-Eun Byun’s article, “Small retail businesses’ perception of competition: Looking through a lens of fear, confidence, or cooperation,” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.
  • The article, “Effects of internal-external congruence based CSR positioning: An attribution theory approach,” co-authored by Sang-Eun Byun, was accepted for publication in the Journal of Business Ethics.
  • Barbie Smrekar was featured in Outside Magazine as an expert outdoor adventure guide for Congaree Park.

  • Haley Harrel (B.S. Fashion Merchandising) was promoted to a new position with the Atlanta Falcons as an account executive.
  • Carrie Jenkinson (B.S. Hospitality Management) started a new position with Graduate Hotels as the catering sales manager in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • Matthew Jinnette (B.S. Retail Management) Started a new position as the director of operations for the Lexington County Blowfish.

  • Morgan Hannel (M.S. Sport and Entertainment Management) started a new position with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation as the manager of special events and development.
