This summer, the University of South Carolina’s Department of Integrated Information Technology (iIT) will be moving from the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM) to the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC). While iIT has a long and proud history with HRSM, this is a thoughtful and positive move for the department that will best align its continued enrollment growth with the future of the industry.
Beginning Fall Semester 2017, all new iIT students (freshman and transfer) will be admitted directly to the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC).
For current iIT students, the colleges and university are working together to ensure a smooth and well-supported transition. The move will not impact scheduled graduation dates and iIT students already enrolled at HRSM will not have changes to their course requirements.
Current iIT students who are graduating in spring 2017 or summer 2017 will graduate
from HRSM before the move occurs and will not be impacted in any way.
iIT students graduating after summer 2017 will graduate from CEC. However, course
requirements or academic requirements will not change for students who are already
enrolled with HRSM. Students will remain under the program requirements specified
in the Bulletin for the year they were admitted, unless they choose to change to a
newer Bulletin.
Undergraduate iIT students will continue to receive academic advising support from HRSM Student Advising Services through the summer of 2017, completing registration for Fall 2017 Semester classes.
iIT faculty and staff offices will move from the IT-oLogy Tower at 1301 Gervais Street to the new Center for Applied Innovation and Analytics in the Horizon II Building at Blossom and Assembly streets. The expected date for the move to the innovation center is August 2017.
For students who will be moving with the department, CEC will be hosting two information sessions on:
- Monday, Feb. 13 from 6-7 p.m.
- Friday, Feb. 17 from 1-2 p.m.
Both sessions will be held in Amoco Hall, Swearingen 1C01.
