UofSC to offer SHRM courses, help human resource professionals across South Carolina

The University of South Carolina has been approved as an official education partner of the Society of Human Resource Management, which is the world’s largest HR organization. This distinction allows UofSC to offer SHRM courses and certificates that will help prepare human resource professionals across South Carolina for their next career step.

“It is essential that, as the flagship university in South Carolina, we provide professional development opportunities that support those not just within our university community but across the state,” says Sandra Kelly, vice provost at UofSC. “These courses will benefit HR specialists throughout South Carolina and the organizations that they serve.”

Beginning this spring, UofSC will host a SHRM Essentials Course that provides an introductory overview of key human resource topics and fundamental issues in HR to help early-career professionals. It will also host a SHRM Certificate Course that will provide mid- to late-career HR professionals with a four-week educational experience.

“These courses will help develop human resource professionals across the state and throughout the region, regardless their career stage,” says Hilary Dyer Brannon, director of Continuing Education and Conferences at UofSC. “We are thrilled to offer this program as an official education partner of the Society of Human Resource Management.”

The SHRM Essentials Course will take place online April 4-7 from 6-9 p.m. and in-person July 12, 14, 19 and 21 from 6-9 p.m. The SHRM Certificate Course will occur every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. between March 14 and April 6.

Registration has begun for both courses. Military members, senior citizens and UofSC alumni, students, faculty and staff will receive a 10 percent discount for registering.
