SHARPGrads Program

SHARPGrads is the Skills, Habits, and Research Program for Graduate Students at the University of South Carolina.  This workship provides free training in digital scholarship, computing, and library research concepts for students enrolled in graduate-level courses at the Columbia campus. 

Teaching Online for Graduate Students

Online Asynchronous 4-week Course

This four-week, fully online asynchronous course will introduce you to online teaching and develop your knowledge and ability to implement and teach online courses.

Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program

Nomination Required

Open to prospective and current doctoral and MFA students, this program prepares underrepresented and ethnically diverse students to become professors. Scholars are provided $40,000 in additional funding over 4 years and receive training specifically designed to help them launch successful and impactful careers as college professors. 

Preparing Future Faculty

Application Required

This program is a professional development opportunity that provides assistance to graduate students and post-docs who want to become faculty members at the college level. PFF is a national program established by the Council of Graduate Schools, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the Pew Charitable Trust and the National Science Foundation.

USC Postdoctoral Association

Open to postdocs

Formed in early 2014, the USC Postdoctoral Association supports and improves the postdoctoral training experience at USC by providing opportunities and resources for networking, professional development, social interaction, research and teaching.

Blackboard Ultra Course View

This is USC’s major Learning Management System (LMS) that allows instructors to customize the learning experience. Instructors may post course content, develop online assessments, facilitate peer to peer interactions, send announcements, communicate with students, and maintain and calculate student grades.

The program explores ways to help students reflect on and connect what they do within and beyond their curriculum, and transfer their knowledge to new, complex situations.
