Appointment to an endowed chair or a named professorship (hereafter referred to as "chairs") is intended to be the university's most prestigious recognition for continuing scholarly achievement and distinction. Nominations for appointment and reviews for reappointment follow policy ACAF 1.21 Appointment and Review of Endowed Chairs and Named Professorships [pdf]. If a unit is recruiting for an endowed chair or requesting an endowed chair appointment as a recruitment incentive for a new faculty hire, a single file including all elements for both the endowed chair nomination and the hire with tenure/full rank should be submitted.
