The Office of the Provost is pleased to welcome Hilary Dyer Brannon to the position of director of Continuing Education and Conferences (CEC). She will oversee the CEC team which is responsible for noncredit continuing education including CEU documentation, conference and event planning services and the administration of pre-university, professional education and personal enrichment programs.
Prior to joining CEC, Hilary served as director of communication and events for the Department of Student Life where she led communication efforts to promote opportunities for beyond the classroom experiences. She also managed the Office of Parent and Family Programs, where she developed nationally and regionally award-winning programs to serve UofSC families.
Hilary has directed some of the most visible university-wide events including University Awards Day and Family Weekend. She began her career at the university in Undergraduate Admissions where she managed the university’s undergraduate recruitment and yield campaigns; served as the primary recruiter for the South Carolina Honors College, Capstone Scholars, and the top scholars program; and traveled to more than 15 states to represent the university to prospective students. Hilary has been very active within the Columbia Community and has received numerous accolades for her work in the community, including the Columbia Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year award and The State Media Company’s 20 under 40 designation to name just a few.
“Hilary’s work experiences in communication and organizing large events for Admissions and the Parents Programs and her activities in both the University and the Columbia community make her ideally suited to be the Director of the Continuing Education and Conferences Office.” said Vice Provost Sandra Kelly, “and we look forward to seeing how her vision for the CEC is realized.”
Hilary earned a Bachelor of Arts (visual communications) and a Master of Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. She began as Director of CEC on October 1, 2020.
