If you are looking to earn three more credit hours in the Spring Semester but you just can’t figure out how to make it work, consider Winter Session. In its second year, Winter Session provides a variety of online classes between Jan. 2 – 20, right before Spring Semester classes begin.
The session is coordinated through On Your Time and Director Shelley Dempsey explains the impact on students. “Winter Session is one more opportunity for UofSC to meet the needs of our students year-round. The classes are online and take place during what has traditionally been downtime for students. Winter Session is for the student who is hoping to stay on track, catch up, or get ahead – and they can do it from anywhere since instruction is online with our best instructors guiding the path to success in the courses.”
In the first year of Winter Session, more than 200 students enrolled in eight classes and the results exceeded expectations.
UofSC Alumn Ross Lordo shares his experience in Winter Session, “Taking a winter course offered me the ability to accelerate the progress towards my degree by providing a comprehensive, efficient way to take a class during our holiday break. My course was challenging and fast-paced, but the professor was committed to working alongside students each day to ensure our success. The instruction received, alongside the convenience, confirms my belief that our University continues to find innovative ways to provide a quality education for our students on our time.”
An instructor who taught a course this year provided this feedback. “I found that the students that signed up for my Winter Session were extremely motivated. I would definitely teach it again!”
Students can register for Winter Session 2019 when spring registration begins on Nov. 12.
