Theta Tau Organization: Rube Goldberg Machine Demonstrations

Theta Tau , the Co-Ed Professional Engineering Fraternity, will be demonstrating their Rube Goldberg machine at the Swearingen Building courtyard.  As part of its philanthropy effort, Theta Tau leads a STEM promotion competition each spring.  Local middle and high school students are invited to construct their own Rube Goldberg machines.  Award prizes are presented to the best constructions. In case of bad weather, the demonstration will be moved inside Swearingen building.

Walker Leadership Scholars

The Walker Pharmacy Leadership Scholars Endowment was established in 2013 by Donna J. Walker ’79 to identify, educate and recognize top pharmacy student leaders at the University of South Carolina (USC). The goals for the program include promoting a vision for leadership development for pharmacy students on the USC campus and catalyzing the creation of new projects on campus related to leadership.  The College of Pharmacy will host Mrs. Walker as part of the University of South Carolina Leadership Week.  During her visit to the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy she will meet with various student groups and organizations to discuss her career path, her perspective on leadership, and on the Walker Leadership Scholars program.  Mrs. Walker will spend January 23-24 as the college launches USC Leadership Week.

Meet Karlee! She is the creator and organizer of ConKerr Cancer- an informal group of students who meets at the Green Quad on Sunday evenings to sew and make pillowcases for children diagnosed with cancer. This is a project that she has initiated entirely on her own. Since the inception of ConKerr Cancer, the project as grown so much that she is considering having it formally listed as a student organization at USC. Karlee will discuss ways to be a leader through community service.
