Marlene Wilson, PhD
Dr. Wilson's research examines the neurochemical mechanisms that contribute to stress and anxiety.
Our faculty are actively engaged in cutting-edge research in all aspects of neuroscience, pharmacology and physiology. They also are committed to providing high-quality education for our graduate and medical students.

Dr. Adderley is a clinical associate professor and medical educator in the Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience Department.

Dr. Fadel's research focuses on the processes of aging under both normal and pathological conditions. He also is the course director for Medical Neuroscience.

Dr. Foster’s lab focuses on brain circuits that are dysregulated in mental disorders and finding novel therapeutic strategies to target these circuits.

Dr. Frizzell's research focuses on metabolic processes and protein modifications that result from mitochondrial metabolites.

Dr. Grillo studies mechanisms that regulate food intake with the goal of reducing the onset of obesity.

Dr. Hagar is a clinical associate professor and medical educator in the Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience Department.

Dr. Hollis studies the role of brain mitochondrial function in neurodevelopment and psychiatric diseases.

Dr. Jasnow is interested in the neural mechanisms that regulate learning, especially aversive memories like fear.

Dr. McQuail studies the interactions between stress and age-related cognitive dysfunction.

Dr. Mott's lab studies the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and the interaction between neurotransmitters systems that alter brain function under both normal and pathological conditions.

Dr. Piroli works with Dr. Frizzell's lab to study the impact of mitochondrial dysfunction.

Dr. Pocivavsek examines the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for the interaction between sleep and cognitive function.

Dr. Pujhari is the director of the Viral Vector Core.

Dr. Reagan's lab examines the pathways by which both emotional and metabolic stress impacts the function of the brain. He also is the course director for Medical Pharmacology.

Dr. Ryan investigates the blood pressure, renal, and vascular consequences of autoimmunity and chronic stress, and he serves as the ACOS for Research at the Columbia VA Medical Center.

Dr. dos Santos's research focuses on the mechanisms through which the brain controls behavior.

Dr. Wilson's research focuses on neural control of the circulation. He also is the course director for Medical Physiology.

Dr. Wood's lab examines the mechanisms that regulate the impact of stress on the body and how individuals differ in their responses to stress.
