About the AB Club
In association with the Instrumentation Resource Facility (IRF), the Applied Biotech Club (ABC) serves as a dynamic platform for students and researchers to explore the rapidly evolving field of biotechnology. ABC provides exposure to both cutting-edge and foundational biotechnologies used within the IRF and at institutions around the world. The club is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where members can connect with peers and mentors, share research experiences, and collaborate on novel scientific questions. By bridging academic learning with practical application, ABC empowers students to deepen their technical skills, expand their professional networks, and actively contribute to the advancement of biotechnological innovation.
What We Do
Each month, the Applied Biotech Club (ABC) hosts a themed gathering that pairs a different “B” (such as Burgers, Burritos, Bagels, or Boba) with engaging discussions on a current topic in biotechnology. These casual, community-focused events provide a welcoming space for faculty, staff, and students to come together, exchange ideas, and build connections across disciplines. Whether you're interested in learning about the latest biotech innovations or simply looking to network with others in the research community, these monthly meetups offer a fun and inclusive environment for collaboration and conversation.
To learn more about the ABC or to get involved in upcoming events, please reach out to our current president, Kasie Roark, at Kasie.Roark@uscmed.sc.edu. We’d love to have you join us!
