New Field Placement Coordinator Joins COE Team

College of Education Welcomes Pamela Adams

Pamela Adams joined our team as a Field Placement Coordinator in the Office of Clinical Experiences in October 2016. She will oversee the placement of middle level candidates who want to be teachers. Also, she will work to build relationships with schools and coaching teachers in the Midlands region, work closely with university supervisors to ensure quality supervision and to provide support to interns in the middle level program.

Adams graduated from Clemson University in 1999 with a BA in Political Science. Upon graduation, she enrolled at the University of South Carolina and earned her MAT degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. After teaching at Hand Middle School for eleven years, she left the classroom to serve on the Richland One Board of School Commissioners.

As a commissioner, her focus on the classroom was never far away. She visited every one of the district's 50 schools in her first year of service and served on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee for Richland One. Also, Adams was elected by her fellow members as the Board Secretary for 2015 and 2016. While on the Board, she earned a Masters in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. Her passion is to build great public schools with highly qualified, energetic teachers in South Carolina.
