About the Program

In a world with so many sources of information, it is difficult for teachers to know how to build background knowledge in a way that feels organic. In the past few years, however, educational experts have realized that classroom discussion—once considered an “old-school” teaching technique—represents a bold new way forward. We will examine some of the scholarship around this topic, while looking at its advantages and challenges.

Target Audience: Teachers, Administrators

Participants Will Learn:

  1. About recent scholarship focused on classroom discussion.
  2. How to build background knowledge while introducing important and interesting topics.
  3. Some of the resources in the marketplace.
