Research Interests
Neuropsychiatric and psychosocial response, embedding virtual reality head-mounted displays (VR-HMD) for therapeutic translation, transculturation, intricacies of counseling service delivery, addictions-comorbidity protocols, and assessment. My research employs a variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies including bivariate analysis and ethnographic research design.

Counseling Experience
Farren Stackhouse, Ph.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science for the Rehabilitation Counseling Program. Dr. Stackhouse has a clinical background which includes work within various clinical settings, inclusive of incarceration facilities, medical and psychiatric infirmaries, emergency departments of hospitals and crisis stabilization units, and private practice. Dr. Stackhouse also has experience working with a variety of clinical mental health concerns, including mental illness, medically complex diseases underlying psychiatric, or substance use issues, behavior adjustment disorders inclusive of suicidality and comorbid diagnoses. In representation of professional organizations, Dr. Stackhouse, has developed research agendas as a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the American Educational Research Association with special interest group focus on education and sport.
