Bryony Wardell joined University of South Carolina’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in 2016 as director of communications and marketing. Wardell has more than 12 years of public relations and integrated communications experience and has worked across PR agency, university, government and corporate settings. In her current role, Wardell supervises PR, creative services and web management and is responsible for developing, executing and measuring the integrated marketing and strategic communications plan for the college.
Wardell graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism specialized in public relations. She began her career in Atlanta working for an integrated PR, marketing and public affairs firm for such clients as Starbucks, Ruby Tuesdays, TNT Fireworks, BC Powder, Kroger, and the Southeastern Brick Association.
Wardell moved to Colorado in 2009 where she worked as a freelance media relations specialist for Ketchum, Inc. as part of the national Kodak account team before joining Colorado State University (CSU). At CSU, she served as communications director for the Warner College of Natural Resources where she led all aspects of PR and marketing for the college.
After moving to South Carolina, Bryony worked as PR manager for a publicly traded software corporation in Charleston. Then prior to joining USC, she served as public information director for S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control overseeing digital communications and strategic marketing for the agency’s environmental side of the house.
Wardell's areas of expertise include strategic communications planning and implementation, public relations, social / digital media and brand management.
