Biography

Mary Jo Burgess serves as the Lead Court Liaison for the Pee Dee and Lowcountry. She supervises and provides support to the Court Liaisons in her region to ensure permanency for children impacted by child abuse and neglect.  She is responsible for reviewing case files, preparing information sheets for the court, and assisting in resolving issues to prevent delayed hearings in Clarendon, Marion, and Williamsburg counties. Also, she provides liaison support to the Family Court Bench Bar Committee.  Previously, she served as Regional Adoption Administrator for SCDSS Region IV, where she managed staff of adoption investigators whose primary responsibility was preparing and placing children with adoptive families, and was a Foster Care Worker with Williamsburg County DSS. She earned her B.S. from Charleston Southern University.
