What drew you to the field of medicine?
Ever since I was young, I actually wanted to become an engineer and work at NASA. However, when I started high school, things started to change and my path in life became more clear. I started to view the world through a multifaceted lens, and I realized how there were some populations in local communities and third world countries where healthcare is not as prevalent or accessible to children and families. The reason I want to get into medicine is to help solve those healthcare disparities and provide a level of equity in those underserved and rural populations as a physician.
What are your future plans?
Right now, I plan on obviously staying in Columbia for seven years! However, after graduating medical school, I hope to get into Pediatrics and help those children in underserved and rural populations within local communities and third world countries. In the future, I also hope to have the opportunity to build and operate a Free Clinic within the underserved population I am serving.
