What drew you to the field of medicine?
Since I was a child, I have always enjoyed puzzle solving and my science classes in school. This stuck with me and led me to consider healthcare as a viable option for my future. As I grew older, my interests in the natural sciences combined with my altruistic outlook on providing relief and care to those in need and I pinpointed medicine as the field for me. After volunteering at my local AnMed Health Hospital and shadowing multiple physicians, I realized medicine is the path I want to pursue. Medicine allows me to combine my interests and my life goals in a way where I can benefit myself and my community.
What are your future plans?
Growing up in the small town of Anderson, South Carolina, I have heard from multiple healthcare workers about how many patients must travel to large cities such as Greenville or Charleston to receive treatment. In the future, I want to develop suburban and rural areas by opening my own clinic and practicing in those areas to build up the medical infrastructure in those regions to reduce the number of patients who are forced to travel long distances to receive care.
