What drew you to the field of medicine?
When I was young, my food allergy led me to develop a close relationship with my physician which initially drew me to medicine. The empathy my parents instilled in me compelled me to aspire to become a physician as I can act as a pillar of guidance and support for my patients. Additionally, exposure to the realities of underprivileged groups motivated me to hope to provide healthcare to those that lack access. I always wanted to pursue a career in which I was able to serve those in need while also allowing me to explore my scientific interests. I feel that the duty of a physician is the greatest type of service one can undertake and I know medicine is the perfect path for me.
What are your future plans?
Being a part of Accelerated Undergraduate to MD I will attend medical school and I will most likely specialize in allergy and immunology but I am still exploring the different branches of medicine. As a physician, I plan on serving underserved communities in local areas as well as developing countries to provide greater access to health care.
