I am currently a senior in the Honors College who is passionate about public health and policy. I volunteer regularly in the community as a healthcare worker and advocate. In my free time, I love to explore the outdoors and go on day trips with my friends! In the future, I plan on attending medical school and using my skills to combat health disparities.

Why I chose the South Carolina Honors College
As someone whose graduating high school class only had 80 students, I knew I wanted to spice things up by attending a large university with a bustling campus and lots of school spirit. However, I also didn’t want to lose those close connections you could only have in a small, close-knit community. Therefore, I chose SCHC because it offered me the best of both worlds. It was a place where I could challenge myself while also grow as a person.
My advice for prospective students: Everything will turn out the way it is supposed to! While the college decision process can be stressful, it’s important to always take a second to breathe. Reflect on yourself and your goals. What do you hope to get out of college, and which school would best help you reach those goals? Life has a way of falling into place, so work hard, try new things, and be excited!
Favorite question during an information session: What is your favorite thing about Honors classes?
I love that the small class size allows you to foster close connections with your classmates and professors! For example, in my Honors Introductory Biology class, I was able to ask a lot of questions in class and go to office hours regularly. Through this, I became closer to my professor, who mentored me and connected me with a lot of helpful resources, such as the professor I currently do research with! To this day, I still keep in touch with him and even volunteer with his Boy Scouts troop!
