Background

As Director of Human Resources, Jean is responsible for overseeing the human resources operations for units reporting to the Office of the Provost. This position oversees day to day operations and provides guidance on HR procedures and interprets HR related policies for leadership and HR contacts in academic units reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Provost. The HR director serves as the liaison with the Division of Human Resources Service Team as it relates to employee relations, benefits, employment, and compensation issues. The HR director works closely with the Vice Provost for Faculty on all faculty human resources related business. This includes, but is not limited to, administrative appointments, emeritus request, endowed chair and professorships, leave without pay, sabbatical and tenure clock extensions.

Jean received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, where she majored in psychology with minors in history and education. She worked in construction and manufacturing for nearly 20 years focusing on account management and human resources, before returning to her alma mater in 2019.
