Message From the Chair

Medical imaging plays pivotal roles in patient care.  These include screening for asymptomatic disease, diagnosing symptomatic conditions, guiding interventions, and monitoring treatment response. Our department embraces the task of ensuring that learners are well-prepared to integrate imaging knowledge and skills into clinical practice.  Points of emphasis include appropriate exam ordering, safety issues in radiology, provider/radiologist communication, and the ability to recognize common and critical findings on imaging studies.  Most of the learners that interface with our faculty ultimately go into areas of medicine other than radiology.  Our aim is for them to understand the role of radiologists within the healthcare system and to become good stewards of radiology resources.  Some of our learners go on to become diagnostic or interventional radiologists and help providers optimize patient care through imaging.  Our department appreciates the opportunity to prepare these learners to take the next steps in their medical journeys.
