Joseph F. Rice School of Law

Taylor House unveiling

William Hubbard ‘77 supported efforts to restore and modernize the Taylor House even before becoming dean of the USC Joseph F. Rice School of Law.

He first learned of the project at a Board of Trustees meeting in 2015 from Derek Gruner, university architect and associate vice president of Facilities Planning, Design and Construction. Since then, Hubbard followed their progress.

When he became dean in 2020, he and George Bailey ‘75, president and director of the Boyd Foundation, saw the opportunity to see the project through to completion. On behalf of the entire law school community, he expressed gratefulness for the generosity of the Boyd Foundation, members of the Taylor family including Susan Boyd whose grandparents were the original owners of the home.

“The restoration of this house has been a labor of love,” Hubbard said during closing remarks. “The Taylor House will inspire an expectation of civility and high purpose with prospective students of the law school.”
