Terrance M. McAdoo began his professional work experience as a Transportation Consultant for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, before transitioning into the field of education. As an educator, Terrance has worked as a teacher assistant (working with Autistic children), a professional licensed business teacher (high school), a student affairs counselor, and a collegiate instructor. Although Terrance planned a career in marketing, the legacy of education from which he comes, coupled with the suggestion of a friend, prompted him to pursue a career in education. It didn’t take long for him to realize that not only was he gifted to teach but also he enjoyed it.
After working at Georgia Perimeter College as a Student Affairs Counselor, Terrance returned to his alma mater as a Praxis & Retention Coordinator. Within a year of his return, he began pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies. Since that time, Terrance’s research interest has expanded to include: social justice pedagogy, conscious hip hop music, race, culture, and diversity, ethics and leadership, and African diaspora. More specifically, his research has explored the potential influence of conscious Hip Hop music on the social injustice awareness of youth within American society.
Terrance’s passion for helping disadvantaged youth continues to drive him to assist society in obtaining solutions toward educational deprivation of the poor, social and economic inequalities, and all things regarding the uplifting of marginalized people. He hopes that his scholarship and work in his local community will bring positive economic and social change for the next generation.
