Background
A clinical professor in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science, Dr. Joshua Thornhill also serves as Associate Dean for Medical Education and Academic Affairs. He joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1993.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, Dr. Thornhill earned a doctor of medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, Va. He completed a general psychiatry residency at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute/University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, South Carolina.
Dr. Thornhill has been active in a number of professional associations, and has served as president of the South Carolina Psychiatric Association and the Southern Psychiatric Association. He is board certified in general psychiatry.
