Biography

Ryan Ball is a graduate research assistant in the IRF and a current PhD student at the USC School of Medicine Columbia. Ryan grew up in a military family, moving around a bit as a kid. After high school, he served 4-years in the US Navy stationed in Sasebo, Japan. After the military, he completed his B.S. in biological sciences from Colorado State University as well as his M.S. in biomedical sciences concentrated in applied biotechnology from the USC School of Medicine Columbia. Ryan joined the IRF in 2022 as an electron microscopy technician and currently assists with TEM/SEM sample preparation and Imaging, maintenance and assistance with the flow cytometry systems, and as a TA for the IRF biotech courses. If this wasn’t enough, he is also conducting research under Dr. Jason Kubinak, focusing on mucosal immunology, host-microbe interactions, and gastrointestinal health. In whatever free time he has, Ryan loves rock climbing, camping, hiking, cycling, and fishing, and is happy to assist with your projects in any way that he can!
