Biography
Dr. David Greenhouse has been on the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine since 1992. He accepted an appointment with the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine after completing his residency at Richland Family Practice Residency, Columbia, South Carolina.
A graduate of Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Greenhouse earned degrees in chemistry and Spanish, graduating summa cum laude. He received a doctor of medicine from Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Greenhouse formerly served as the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine's Assistant Director of Undergraduate Education. Over the years his clinical work has shifted to the care of the elderly living in long-term care settings, and he now provides medical direction and attending coverage for more than 400 patients in skilled and assisted living facilities. He is board certified in family medicine and a certified medical director.
The Director of Geriatric Education since 2001, Dr. Greenhouse developed a longitudinal geriatric curriculum for the family practice residency. Since the implementation of this curriculum, an average of two graduates each year have entered geriatric fellowship programs.
