View a list of the winners [pdf] and their school's Teachers and Sponsors that participated. Certificates and prizes will be mailed out to each student’s principal so that the awards could be presented at each school’s Awards Assembly.

The State-wide MESAS First-Ever On-Line Contest was held in March and April 2022. There were ninety-eight (98) entries, with forty-eight (48) students from grades 4-6 (E Contest) and fifty (50) students from grades 6-8 (M Contest) (approx. 85.78% of the total number of participants were winners). This year, the contests enclosed a broad range of topics emphasizing Science and History in South Carolina, the Environment, Ecology, Training in measurement (especially Metric), Public Health, Epidemiology and some fun questions.

In 2022 students were asked over fifty multiple-choice questions. Some of the questions required hands-on activities to complete. All follow the Common Core Guidelines of South Carolina. We want to extend our most sincere appreciation to the 2022  South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS) online contest creators. These members from the South Carolina Academy of Science and faculty from the Center for Science Education at USC played significant roles in producing the 2022 contest. With a special thanks to Daniel Gregory, an Engineering student at USC.

A unique feature of the contest is that every school that participates is guaranteed at least one winner. The Grand Prizes went to sixteen (16) students (8 M and 8 E) from seven science fair regions in South Carolina.

We congratulate every contestant for their excellent effort! We encourage every student in all South Carolina schools to participate next year.  Hats off to our teachers in South Carolina.
