School of Medicine Columbia

Visiting Senior Medical Students

USC SOM Columbia accepts applications for senior medical students thru Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) from any United States or Canadian medical school fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Medical Association (AMA) or by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Third year electives are not available for visiting students.

The applicant applies during the third year of medical school.  The elective catalog opens for viewing on March 15. Applications open around April 15.  Application decisions will be processed after May 2 and no later than four weeks prior to the elective's starting date. The applicant will be notified as soon as departmental approval or disapproval has been received by the Visiting Student Coordinator.

We will not be able to accept applications from international applicants for the 2022-2023 academic year.  No decision has been made yet for the 2023-24 academic year.
