Regulations & Appeals

You must meet certain degree requirements for the Graduate School and for your department to remain in and graduate from your program of study.

Degree Requirements

Requirements for your specific degree program can be found in the Degree Requirements section of the Graduate Studies Bulletin.

Time Toward Degree

Master's, Specialist and Graduate Certificate Students

Master's, specialist and graduate certificate students have six years from initial term of enrollment in which to complete their degree.

Doctoral Students

Doctoral students have ten years from initial term of enrollment in which to complete their degree.

Academic Standard for Progression

Graduation GPA

Filing an Academic Appeal

Visit the Graduate Academic Regulations section of the Policies & Regulations Bulletin for policies and processes relating to: 

  • Extension of Academic Probation Period
  • Reinstatement After Suspension
  • Academic Forgiveness

  

Checking Your Academic Record 

Check my.sc.edu at the conclusion of each semester for your Record of Academic Work. The academic record will list any probationary status that requires attention by the student.
