Update Application or Admission Status

Need to make changes after you've submitted your application or have been admitted to a program? No problem. Be aware that some types of updates require a small payment. 

Update an Application (Before an Admission Decision)

Add general documents, unofficial scores and unofficial transcripts to an application you already submitted.

What kind of application are you updating?

The method you'll use to upload additional documents depends on how you submitted your grad school application.

General Graduate School Application

Send additional materials to the Graduate School at gradapp@mailbox.sc.edu and use the subject line "Update Application."

 
Arnold School of Public Health Application

Follow instructions from your application service for document submission.  After application verification, email additional documents to the Arnold School Graduate Student Services Office.

 
Darla Moore Business School Application 

Send additional documents to gradinfo@moore.sc.edu.


 
Official Scores and Transcripts

Must be submitted directly from the testing organization or from your university to the Graduate School. 

Request to change the term you applied to, within one year of the original application term. After one year, please submit a new application.  

Request Application Term Change

Is your application still under review?  Use the Application Term Change Form  to identify a new term to be placed on your current file.   If you have been admitted, please use the  form from the Update an Existing Admission section below.

*Nursing students should contact your program office for instructions.

Requirements

You must select a term when the program is accepting applications or that you have special permission to request. 

Fee

None

Declined Applicants

Declined applicants may not use this option.

Change the program on an active application by submitting a new application within one year of the original submission. .   

Requesting a Program Transfer

Submit a Second Application through ApplyWeb.  You must use your original account to receive the discounted rate..  The username is the email address entered on the previous application.   The discounted rate is only valid if the second submission is within one year of the original submission.

If your initial application was through an application service other than the general graduate school application, contact the Graduate School for a link to the discounted application form.

If initial application was not through a Public Health application service and you are interested in changing to a Public Health program, contact the Arnold School Graduate Student Services Office for instructions.

Requirements

Provide all supporting documents required by the new program.  You must select a term when the program is accepting applications.

Fee

$15 (effective for Spring 2024 applicants, waived for Summer 2024 and following terms)

Declined Applicants

Declined applicants may not use this option.

Request that your application be reconsidered by the same program you applied to, within one year of the original application term.

Request to Reconsider a Declined Application

Submit a Second Degree-Seeking Application through ApplyWeb.  You must use your original account to receive the discounted rate.  The username is the email address entered on the previous application. 

If your initial application was through an application service other than the general graduate school application, contact the Graduate School for a link to the discounted application form.

*Nursing applicants should contact your program office for instructions.

Requirements

Upload all required documentation for committee review. We recommend you also include new supporting material to increase your chances during reconsideration.

Fee

$15 (effective for Spring 2024 applicants, waived for Summer 2024 and following terms)

 

Update an Existing Admission

Change or defer your first term of enrollment in your program.  The option to change terms is available within one year of the original admission term.

Requesting to Change or Defer Starting Term

If you have been admitted, please use the Update Request Form via ApplyWeb.  This will set up a new record for your program to use to consider your request.  You will receive email notification of the final decision.

*Nursing students should contact your program office for instructions.

Requirements

You must select a term when the program is accepting applications or that you have special permission to request.   

Non-degree students should select "Renew Non-Degree Enrollment Privileges" on the option page to change your starting term after admission.

Fee

None

If you missed a major semester (fall or spring), select this option to renew your enrollment privilege. If it has been three years or more since your last enrollment, please submit a new application.

Requesting Reactivation of Degree-Seeking Enrollment Privileges

Use the Update Request Form via ApplyWeb.  (Nursing students should contact your program office for instructions.)

Suggestion

Attach an unofficial copy of your USC transcript, found in my.sc.edu to expedite review.

Fee

None

Open an application for a new program after being admitted to another program. If you are admitted to the new program, your admission to your original program will be cancelled. 

Request Program Transfer

Submit a Second Degree-Seeking Application through ApplyWeb.   The username is the email address entered on the previous application. 

If your initial application was through an application service other than the general graduate school application, contact the Graduate School for a link to access the secondary application form.

If initial application was not through a Public Health application service and you are interested in changing to a Public Health program, contact the Arnold School Graduate Student Services Office for instructions.   

For a transfer to a program in the same academic discipline (i.e., enrolled in Physics - PhD, requesting to change to Physics - MS), do NOT submit a secondary application unless instructed to do so by your program. Instead, use the Request for a Program Transfer Within the Same Discipline form, found on the Graduate School website.

Requirements

Provide supporting documents required by the new program. You must select a term when the program is accepting applications.

Fee

$15 (effective for Spring 2024 applicants, waived for Summer 2024 and following terms)

Request entry into a second program while actively pursuing a current program.

Requesting Concurrent Enrollment

Submit a Second Degree-Seeking Application through ApplyWeb.  You must use your original account to receive the discounted rate.  The username is the email address entered on the previous application. 

If your initial application was through another application service (i.e. Business, Engineering or Public Health), contact the Graduate School for special access to the discounted application form. 

Requirements

You must request that both program directors send a letter to the Graduate School approving concurrent enrollment. Check with your new program to see if additional documentation is required. 

For concurrent enrollment in a program in the same academic discipline (i.e., enrolled in Physics - PhD, requesting concurrent enrollment in Physics - MS), do NOT submit a secondary application unless instructed to do so by the  program. Instead, use the Request for Concurrent Enrollment Within the Same Discipline form, found on the Graduate School website.

$15 (effective for Spring 2024 applicants, waived for Summer 2024 and following terms)

Request to enroll as a non-degree student. 

Requesting First-Time Non-Degree Enrollment

Use the Update Request Form via ApplyWeb.

Requirements

You must have previously enrolled as a graduate student in a degree program at USC or have a degree application pending.    Otherwise, use the Non-Degree Application

Fee

$15 (effective for Spring 2024 applicants, waived for Summer 2024 and following terms)

Request to have your non-degree enrollment status reactivated or change starting term for non-degree status after admission

Requesting to Renew Non-Degree Enrollment

Use the Update Request Form via ApplyWeb.  Select "Renew Non-Degree Enrollment Privilege" on the option page.

Requirements

You must have been previously been admitted to USC as a non-degree graduate student.

Fee

None

If you are participating in the USC International Accelerator Program, you may request to progress to the next level of the program. 

Requesting to Progress to the Next Program Level

Use the Update Request Form via ApplyWeb.

Fee

None

 

Update an Expired Admission or Enrollment

Submit a new "primary" application if  

  • your initial admission term is more than a year in the past and you have not enrolled in classes  or
  • it has been more than 3 years since you attended classes
