Digital Accessibility

Digital Accessibility Committee

The Committee is made up of accessibility experts from key areas of the university who discuss high-level strategic portions of the effort and help ensure USC is on track for digital accessibility compliance.

The Committee consists of experts from key areas of the university keeping digital accessibility efforts on track.

Additional players may be invited on an as-needed basis as large portions of the effort pertain to their college or division or a new digital undertaking.

Responsibilities

Meet Regularly
Meet monthly to review progress and issues.

Enact and Enforce Policies & Procedures
Help author, maintain, and oversee accessibility policies and procedures.

Make Progress Toward Accessibility Goals
Ensure digital products at the university are making progress toward larger accessibility goals and the standards for compliance.

Advocate for Accessibility
Foster an inclusive culture and promote accessibility awareness throughout the university.

Educate
Help organize regular educational opportunities for the University community.

Report on Progress
Help document progress, new initiatives, issues, success measures and other pertinent items to the appropriate parties (University Vice President, Division of IT, etc).

Oversee Implementation
Help direct and delegate efforts for enacting the strategic accessibility plan and remediating accessibility issues.

Manage Issues
Strategize response to issues as they arise.

 

Committee Members

Chief Information Officer
Participates in meetings, represents USC strategy, and directs resources as needed.

Director of Digital Accessibility
Leader of the Committee. Heads up meetings, delegates tasks and follows up on items to be resolved.

Digital Strategy Representatives
Participate in meetings and own actions related to the Digital Strategy team's work: new university digital initiatives, content created by Communications & Public Affairs, overseeing university websites, etc.

Student Disability Resource Center Representatives
Participate in meetings as the voice of the SDRC and student accessibility needs in a digital campus.
