USC Libraries adds another “Read and Publish” opportunity for USC researchers

University of South Carolina-affiliated researchers can now participate in no-cost open access publishing and have no-cost read access to some of the world’s best physical sciences research, thanks to a transformative agreement USC Libraries has forged with IOP Publishing. This is the second such Read and Publish agreement the Libraries have actively pursued and negotiated in the past year.

“Read and Publish agreements are becoming increasingly common and important in scholarly communications,” notes David Banush, Dean of Libraries. “These agreements allow our researchers to share their work freely across the globe, increasing their impact and their citation rates. They also save money, leaving more funds in researchers’ budgets.”

In 2022, the Libraries entered into an agreement with Wiley Read and Publish Deal services. The new, three-year agreement with IOP Publishing allows USC-affiliated researchers to publish in more than 70 eligible journals and have read access to the extensive IOP Publishing journal portfolio. Users can search and download articles from the full portfolio spanning 140 years of physics and related sciences. The Libraries pay the requisite fees for its users.
