Special Collections Policies

Use of the collections is restricted to those conducting serious scholarly research. USC ID or other photo ID required. Materials do not circulate. Access will be denied for items too fragile to use.

Harmful Content Statement:

University Libraries provides access to its collections as an unaltered, historical record. Some collection materials include images or words that are offensive. We do not support or condone these harmful ideas, and we embrace a culture that prioritizes diversity and inclusion. We make these items available because they are critically important resources for education and research, while acknowledging their impact on various peoples and groups.



 

Permissions and Copyright 

  • Permission to consult Special Collections materials does not convey the right to further reproduce or publish them. Citing, quoting or referring to materials under the provisions of the United States Copyright laws is permitted; however, extensive quotation, reproduction, and/or publishing requires the permission from the Music Library and the owners of the copyright.
  • Items requested for audio duplication, photocopying or other reproduction must be screened by a Music Librarian, both for physical condition and for possible copyright restrictions. Photocopies can only be made by a Music Library staff member. Audio, digital and photographic reproductions are for personal research only and are not to be placed in another repository without prior written permission from the Music Library.
