Hometown: Hillsdale, MI
About Me: I am originally from the Midwest (primarily Michigan) but have found my way to warm
sunny South Carolina and am enjoying the much milder temperatures-especially in the
winter! I started working in a university setting in 2014 and since then have fallen
head over heels for the environment, the people, and especially the students! Carolina
may not be my alma mater, but it is fast becoming home to me, and I hope to help make
it your home too! I love tea-I prefer hot black tea, with no sweeteners but love to
try every kind. My favorite animal is a sloth- I did a study abroad in Costa Rica
in ecology and saw them in person. I collect Gnomes-yes, of the garden variety. I am
very active in the local theatre scene- come see me in a show or let me teach you
a class! I can't live without music to dance to, to sing, to listen to. Puppies are
my weakness; I have a grown up one named Pretzel. I prefer the lake to the ocean-
What can I say...I did grow up on the great lakes! I am a trivia buff and love to
play and be quizzed-if i don't know it, I'll learn it! Nerd is a word I'm proud to
use when it comes to my obsession with history and museums. Want to know more? Ask
me! I love to talk almost as much I love to listen and learn about others!
Favorite Quote: "I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious." - Albert Einstein
Advice to Students: Take the chance. You may never get some of the opportunities you are offered while
here at Carolina ever again, so study abroad, do research, build a community - the
possibilities are endless. It may change your life or at the very least, you can say
you tried.
